Looking for Key West Hemingway?

I am looking for a beach or island away from the South Atlantic or Gulf Coast. I do not want a highly developed area. My image is a half-dozen motels, two or three townie bars, restaurants and a few palm trees. No tourist traps. Is there such a place.
